Moonrise Review

4/5 stars from Terri at Night Owl Reviews. Thanks Terri!

This story is a bit longer than a quickie but it packs a lot of story into under 100 pages. Characters and situations are quickly introduced with you finding yourself suddenly in the middle of the story. Again, due to the length, the sex scenes start early and will keep you hot all the way to the last page. Of course it helps that the two males are sexy in human and wolf form!

Selene finds more than a job when she arrives in Moonrise. She's not made welcome, has no place to live and no money. She only gets the job due to the owner, Trey, making an issue of it! But, she hopes that she can hide from her abusive ex in this hostile town. When Trey has sex with her while Selene is walking in the woods, she's turned on but confused. Later when he invites her to her home, Selene expects to find a wife but instead finds Michael, the resturant cook. It doesn't take long for the men to get her into their bed but what will happen when she learns they change into wolves and can she stay hiden from her ex?

After reading this interesting story, I sure wouldn't mind visiting Moonrise again. It definitely sounds like an interesting town full of wonderful stories.

First Review for Moonrise

This review is by Tangie from TwoLips Reviews. Be sure to click the link to visit TwoLips for other reviews :)
Thanks, Tangie!

MOONRISE by Cassidy Hunter

Selene is running from her abusive ex-husband, is at her wits end and out of money when she finds the small town of Moonrise.  Although she finds the locals a bit unfriendly, she has nowhere else to go and no funds to get there.  So she finds herself applying to work at the town bar and grill, the Crescent.

Trey is a werewolf and the owner of The Crescent.  He knows Selene is meant for him and his cook Michael, so he gives her a job.  Both men know she is scared and running, but will Selene be able to accept their dual natures?  Can they protect her when her past catches up to her?

I enjoyed Moonrise by Cassidy Hunter.  Selene was a woman who has lived intimately with fear and Ms. Hunter did not sugar coat its after effects.  Selene's journey from meek to confident was wonderful to see.  The milestones along the way made you want to smile along with her.

Trey and Michael make an interesting pair.  Ms. Hunter hinted at Michael's past but it was never explained.  It may have been nice to find out why Michael felt such a connection to Selene outside of the fact that they were mates.  Seeing how Trey's strength empowered both Michael and Selene was also a treat in this short story.  Ms. Hunter did a great job of building a believable relationship between these characters.  I also found the chemistry between the three realistic and fun.

I've been seeing a few searches for Dubious Consent books, and wanted to let you know again that I will be writing more in that series. I'm writing the second one now, which is tentatively titled Sugar Cane, and I will keep you updated.

Ellora's cave offered me a contract for a new book--a novella this time--called Total Depravity, but I have no release date for that yet. Soon as I know, I'll post.

I'm also making a lot of headway with Serenity, the third book in the Sanctuary series (Sanctuary, Asylum). I've been slacking with this one for a long time, and am happy to be feeling it once again ;)

Also, Moonrise will be released on August 7th with Liquid Silver Books!

Nose Piercing

I finally gave in and got my nose--my nostril--pierced.

I'd been wanting to do it for a long time but kept putting it off, trying to decide between nose and eyebrow and whether or not I was too chicken for either.

But finally I walked into a shop that is two minutes from my house, asked a few questions, and got it done.

I'm so glad I did it! It's really cute.

I'd watched a few YouTube videos of people being pierced, and seriously, this was much easier and less painful than those videos made it seem--at least for me.

It was so quick. There was a little touch of pain which I don't even remember now, and then it was over. The jewelry going in hurt a little bit, but nothing near as much as it hurt when I got my cartilage piercing on my ear. Now THAT hurt. For months. This? Two days later and I forget it's there.

There was a little bleeding, but I'm a bleeder so I expected that. Barely any swelling, just...surprisingly easy and awesome. ;)

I'm sure it's not the same with everyone, but other than the anxiety from not knowing how it'd be, it was a piece of cake. And I love it!

Next, I'm getting a tattoo on my wrist...

Dubious Consent coming June 8th to Ellora's Cave

Coming Soon...

I don't have a release date yet, but Dubious Consent is coming soon to Ellora's Cave.
Here is a short excerpt :)

She didn’t move when her cell door clanged open and Samson stood there, sighing down at her. “Come on, girlie. I don’t want to hurt you.”
Truth was, he didn’t. She knew it wasn’t his fault. He was as much a prisoner as she was. “I’ll give you a break this time, Samson.”
“That’d be just wonderful, little one.” He reached down and pulled her up off the floor. His enormous, black arm was completely covered with colorful tattoos.
As usual, she took a few seconds to study the works of art covering his body. “Gorgeous,” she murmured, as he hustled her out the door. “Think I’ll come back this time, Samson?”
“Yes ma’am, I do. Master D isn’t fighting you tonight. He’s changed the program.”
She stared up—way up—at him, frowning. “What do you mean?”
He sniffed and refused to meet her gaze, a sure sign he was damn uncomfortable. She’d been here six months, and Samson was as close a friend as she had in this hellhole. She dug her fingers into his arm.
“Tell me.”
He blew out a gust of air. “The people want to see you fuck, honey.”
“What? But I’m a fighter!”
“I’m sorry for you, Caity.”
“Fuck!” she threw her head back and screamed curses at the uncaring ceiling, until finally Samson simply picked her up, tucked her under his arm, and carried her down the hall. After a few seconds she controlled herself. “Put me down, Samson.”
He did immediately. “You’ll be okay, honey.”
“Yeah.” She shook her head, furious, tired and a little sick. “Who is he pairing me with?”
“The wolf, Dmitri.”
She rubbed her temples and tried to smile. “At least he’s hot.”
She stopped walking. “And?”
“That skinny young one. I don’t know how that kid is still alive.”
“Jake.” He wasn’t skinny, he was lean. Lean and hard and not a day past twenty. “He’s tougher than he looks.”
He looked at her with surprise. “You haven’t been with the young wolf.”
“No, but I’ve watched him.”
They reached the reinforced doors at the end of the long hall, and Samson beat upon them a couple times to alert the guard to let them out. “You ready, sweetheart?”
She shook her head. “No. But will that change anything?”

Release Dates and...

I submitted Moonrise to Liquid Silver Books last night. Today, they sent me a contract! Wow, just wow! I'm thrilled they accepted it, but nearly fell over when I got such a quick acceptance. I will post the blurb as soon as I can. It's an m/m/f shifter menage about two amazing male wolves and a heroine running from an abusive ex.

And...I already have received the release date! Moonrise will be out with LSB on August 6! This is one amazing publisher :)

Fierce Paradise, the second book in the Paradise series, has a release date of July 3rd, with Loose Id. I'll post cover art and more as soon as I get it!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

I've begun serious work on the third book in the Sanctuary series, Serenity. For everyone who has been waiting for this book, I apologize for taking so long to get it started.

Along with Serenity I am writing another short (Suck) for Ellora's Cave, finishing up a shifter menage (Moonrise) for Liquid Silver Books, and am in edits for Fierce Paradise, the second book in the Paradise series with Loose Id.

I'm also writing a YA book under a different pseudonym. I'm having such fun writing it!

So anyway, lots of writing and a very busy time for me! This is the way I like it. :)

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Edits and Updates :)

I'm now in edits with the second book in the Paradise series--Fierce Paradise--and as soon as I get a release date I'll let everyone know. It is with Loose Id, as is the first Paradise book, Dark Paradise.

I've also written a short called Dubious Consent for Ellora's Cave, and should begin edits on it soon. I subbed another short called Total Depravity to them as well, and am waiting to hear if there's an acceptance for that one in my future ;)

I wrote a short called Moonrise and am still decided who to sub it to.

So very busy with the books, and that's the way I like it ;)

I'll post as soon as I have more info.

Happy Easter!!

Five Stars From Manic Readers

This review is from Manic Readers reviewer AlexJouJou and is for Dark Paradise. Part of it follows. To read the full review you can go here, and she also has a similar review of Dark Paradise posted on her GR page here.

Thanks Joellen!

5/5 stars!

"I have to say I've been reading Cassidy Hunter books for a while and while the first efforts I read were very good she is clearly passing the line into great now as she evolves. The setting here is sparsely described, in perfect keeping with the planet itself. The characters crash into your heart and you cannot help but love each of them for who they are. You cheer, you gasp, and you wince as the events unfold. Although this looks more like a SciFi dystopian novel I can tell you several times I gasped and held my breath. The suspense was positively electric. Then Dark Paradise went toward an ending I didn't expect, though it was in perfect keeping with the former part of the book. It leaves room open for the sequel which must be coming soon (I hope!). Exceptionally well executed, a great length, with mesmerizing action and characterization this one truly earns its stars!"

New from You Gotta Read Reviews

From You Gotta Read Reviews

"...This story takes you to a whole other world, a very kinky world at that. The scenery and such are so described that it’s almost felt like you’re walking there yourself. The chemistry between the characters was touchable and the hot and steamy kinky scenes had me fanning myself and squirming in my seat." Rasia from You Gotta Read Reviews

Review and Giveaway!

Nix from Scorching Book Reviews gave Dark Paradise a 4/5 star review. Go here to read the review and be entered to win your own copy of Dark Paradise.

Below is a couple of snippets from the review:

"...I haven’t read much sci-fi but I have read a lot of Cassidy Hunter. She never disappoints. This is the tale of a contrary, damaged heroine and two very dominant and possessive men."

"...There is a ménage love story (where the men are also involved) amongst a back-drop of a prisoner type world and creepy alien bad-guys. The sex is smoking and the danger is palpable, making the overall tone of the book even more smexy! If you like sci-fi futuristic erotica, this could be the book for you. Oh yeah, and this is the start of the series so expect an almighty twist :)"

Thanks for the awesome review, Nix! ♥

Review for First Night

First Night was reviewed by Charity of Nocturne Reads and you can click here to read her full review. Thanks, Charity!

**UPDATE: 2/12/12 I have changed my rating from 4 to a 4.5, because the e-book I mention below was replaced by one with correct font. Thank you Cassidy Hunter and Liquid Silver Books! I will definitely be rereading this one!

"First I want to point out that this book is a Paranormal Romance Erotica…and I loved it! This is definitely a 5 HOOT worthy book, but I had to settle on 4 HOOTS for two reasons. First the e-book copy I received switched between two fonts constantly, it was very hard on the eyes, and I had to put it down several times (when I didn’t want to) just to let my eyes rest. The second reason is the blurb. There was too much information in the blurb and it really took away the surprises.

The connection between Mila and Lake is instant, even though they both want to fight it. It’s not a long story, but we get just enough to make their love and connection work. Overall this is a great story, definitely rereadable. I hope these cultures will be continued in a series."

**Just want to let everyone know that the publisher is correcting the font as I write this. I apologize to anyone who has purchased the format with the different fonts!

Review for Dark Paradise

Review snippet from Sizzling Hot Book Reviews:

...Dark Paradise had some very steamy love scenes. I enjoyed reading Cin’s back story it really gives insight to who she has become. I enjoyed the banter between Cin and Elder and Mach as their relationship develops. I am not sure I can say that I had a favorite character in Dark Paradise because I liked the main characters equally. Their chemistry was fiery and tangible. The situations that they got into were both interesting and very involved and complex which made for enjoyable reading. I enjoyed watching them wiggle their way out of the dangers and troubles they faced. Cin learned so much about herself and learned how to defend herself enough to keep herself alive. Over all I enjoyed reading Dark Paradise. Cassidy Hunter has a way with words that creates a world that is unique and engaging. I would recommend Dark Paradise to those who enjoy romances with a little sci-fi in them...

Thanks, Isis!

This book will be released from Loose Id on January 24, 2012.
