Review for First Night

From Just Erotic Romance Reviewer Elizabeth Charles:

First Night was a very enjoyable, sexy story.

It is rare that I am taken aback by a plot, but this one was full of surprises.  The storyline could be perceived as slightly erratic by some readers, but I really appreciated the constant shift in expectations.  The writing was good, so the author was able to pull off the plot changes.   It became a bit of a horror story, and the plot was never headed where you think it was.  My one complaint was that Mila seemed to change her mind a lot about whether she wanted Lake or was mad or disgusted with him.  I liked the pacing of the sex between them because there was ample time to build up the sexual tension. Which made their eventual hook up even hotter and more satisfying. The sex scenes are steamy!  Be warned Mila does have sexual relations with another man in front of Lake at the beginning of the story but no actual sex.  If that bothers you, you might want to skip this book.  Also, there is a little more gore than usual in an erotic romance, but it isn’t too overwhelming.  The story was well written but the surprise ending was a little too flip for me.   I wish Mila had taken more time for self introspection and to mourn her actions.  But any complaints I had were minor because First Night was a good book.

Thanks, JERR and Elizabeth! I'm so happy you enjoyed First Night.

That Time Of Year

My editor sent me edits to Dark Paradise last night. She told me DP is the best book I've written yet, and of course that made me happy! It's soft sci fi, which is strange considering I'm not usually a science fiction type of writer. I did really enjoy writing it though, and the sequel is coming along nicely.

So today I'm going to do edits, meet my word count on Lost Paradise, and study for finals.

Thanksgiving draws ever closer, so that means major grocery shopping, cooking, baking...and top to bottom housecleaning! And soon, the tree will go up! :)

I hope everyone has a great holiday season.

I bought myself a Pontiac Grand Prix yesterday, and have spent this lovely Saturday driving it! Of course I had to go buy things for it; some scents, a sun visor wallet, jumper cables, a Hello Kitty beanie to keep me company ;), a couple of flashlights, emergency Tylenol because my own driving can sometimes give me a headache, fairy floor mats, a fairy steering wheel cover, things like that. You'd think I was furnishing a house.

Needless to say, today and yesterday have not been spent writing, but my editor has informed me that she's starting edits on Dark Paradise and will be sending those to me soon. In the meantime, I'm starting the homework I have been neglecting for my drugs class.

Day before yesterday I was wrapping Christmas presents. Can you believe that Christmas is in two months? I'm also the family cook so next month I'll be doing Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends. I want to do NaNo, but am pretty sure I'm just not going to have time.

Midterms are over, thank God. Now I can concentrate on writing. Luckily, though I was stressed and anxious and SURE I was in for, at the very most, a couple of midterm Cs, I aced the tests :)

I will be more relaxed for finals.

I've managed to get in some early Christmas shopping, too. I love when I get it all finished early. I'm not a last minute kind of girl!

It's such a beautiful Fall day today. I'm sitting with my computer by an open window, and after I've taken care of a few things, am planning on spending the day writing. I have an unfinished sequel to tend to ;)

First Night

Danielle Ferries read first night and sent me a wonderful email. With her permission, I'm posting some of what she wrote about First Night. Thanks, Danielle! I'm so happy you enjoyed the book ;))

"...I think, alongside Beauty’s Beast, that this is my favourite of your books.

The imagery was so vivid and took me on the journey right there with Mila. Also, the sense of community Mila had that turned out to be so fragile was very tragic and I think you handled it really well. I do have a complaint though (if you could call it a complaint), and that is that I thought the book should have been longer J  There were parts in the story where I thought you could really have delved a bit more into things, but all in all, I loved the richness of the story, the different groups, the rules, the fear of being cast out. You really showed the fear well and also her conflict over her sense of belonging to her own community but wanting to follow love.

The anticipation to Menda’s Eve was done so well too—I wanted to rip through it to get to that scene but forced myself to slow down and enjoy the build up (not knowing what was ahead!) I love an against all odds story J  I also love the interesting twists and turns you take with your stories—I was not expecting Lake to take her away so soon and I’m always happy when the writer surprises me in this way.

So well done again J and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!"

Again, thank you, Danielle for not only letting me know what you thought of the book, but for letting me tell everyone else ;)

Dark Paradise

I received a contract yesterday from Loose Id for my new erotic m/m/f fantasy Dark Paradise. I'm writing the sequel right now, as I'm doing edits.

I signed the contract last night, got the signed forms to the post office today, and couldn't wait to let everyone know I'll have a new book out with LI soon!

The sequel will be called Lost Paradise, and I hope to have it finished around the time DP releases so there won't be a long wait for it.

I'll keep everyone updated as to the release date, cover, etc.

As always, I'm so excited to have another book accepted by Loose Id!

Another 5 Stars for First Night and Beyond the Shadows!

Another 5 star review for First Night!

This one was written by Melissa from Sizzling Hot Book Reviews.

I'll paste a small excerpt below, but for the full review, click here.

"...Mila is a headstrong woman who understands her duty but is also a bit of a nymphomaniac. When she isn’t getting it on with Cho, she is unable to withstand Lake. But she is also compassionate and really does treat Cho and others like real people, not slaves unlike some of the other characters do. Lake is a strong guy but has a sensitive streak that isn’t always found in alpha males...

...First Night is a fun story that has adventure and a great deal of sex. If you are interested in reading about early societies and their traditions, as well as the love of a strong man and good woman, you will love First Night!"

Thanks, Melissa and Sizzling Hot Book Reviews!

Also 5 stars for Beyond the Shadows!

This review comes from Cia at Siren Book Reviews. Thanks, Cia!

"...Beyond the Shadows by Cassidy Hunter was a fantastic read. It’s apparent in the beginning that Sarah isn’t a follower and has an agenda of her own. I was sad to read of her treatment by her previous keeper, but think being there added great strength to her character...

While I didn’t exactly love him (Kai) in the beginning, there’s no denying that I loved the savage bedroom side of him..."

First Review for First Night

5 Stars for First Night!
Review is from Jarrah Dale at Goodreads

I pretty much only give 5 *'s to a book that I would gladly read again. And this is one that I would gladly read again.
My one word of advice?
Ignore the cover!!!!!!!! (Just to let everyone know, she thinks the cover is not dark enough to suit the book:))

There, with that done, here's why YOU should buy this book, NOW:

1. You like vampire stories, but you don't like them all warm and fuzzy. You want some danger to your read.

2. You like smutty interludes with odd creatures.

3. You like to mix it up with a dark -fairly tale like - read once in a while that grips you by your toes and makes you squeal!

4. You like girls and guys that are tough enough to do what they need to do, and don't mind seeing a few of the characters who gave the H/H a bad time coming to a bad end!

5. In summary, you like smutty fairy-tale-like dark stories about vampires who aren't as nice as they seem (pet, pet, but don't bite!) and like a read that will keep you turning the page for hours as a time.

So go BUY it already.

New Release and News!

So it's official: First Night, my erotic fantasy romance, it now out with Liquid Silver Books!

First Night is also at All Romance eBooks and Amazon.

TwoLips reviewer Merrylee gave Strange Familiar a fantastic five star (or five lips, I guess that would be) review. I'll post a snippet below, but be sure to go read the entire review. It's worth reading!

Here's part of the review:

"...The many-faceted plot is original and fresh. Ms. Hunter's demon world-building is so colorfully rich, I could easily imagine the textures beyond the colors, the fragrances beyond the author's olfactory descriptions.

I simply couldn't put this book down, and read it in one afternoon.

While written in a lighthearted vein, Strange Familiar runs the gamut of emotions. On one page, I laughed at Olivia's spunk and hilarious sense of humor, and on another, I cried with her through the pain of her forced separations from Kane.

Just when I thought the book was coming to an end, there was another twist and turn that grabbed me and tossed me in an entirely new and fascinating direction. And the sex between Kane and Olivia will smoke your shorts!

...This was my first experience with a Cassidy Hunter novel(la), and it definitely won't be my last. If you've never read Ms. Hunter's work before, I highly recommend you do and start with this one. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised."

Doesn't that make you want to read the review and the book? ;)

You can buy Strange Familiar at Etopia Press, All Romance eBooks, and Amazon.

Review from TRR's BookAddict-Beyond the Shadows

New review for Beyond the Shadows:

 Book Reviewed by BookAddict (reviewer)

Snippets from the review:

"...Sarah has been abused for a while through daily rapes. She begs her brother for help, which is why they are in this mess. Now that she's escaped her rapist, she needs to free her brother from Kai. Her plan is to seduce Kai, free her brother and then flee, but the plan backfires. Yes, as the reader can guess, Sarah falls for Kai. When the betrayal comes to light, Sarah is imprisoned and then punished.

...While Sarah could come off as some victimized weakling, she does not. For this, I'm very happy

...This is why I felt badly for him(Kai) when he is betrayed. I do like his dominating personality -- quite the turn on.

...One could say this means the book is BDSM because there is bondage and rough sex. I say, it's still just kinky sex with a bit of spice...The sexual tension between Sarah and Kai caused me to eye my spouse like a juicy piece of meat.

...This book moved at a nice pace with every scene meaningful. I was engaged the entire time and when I was done, I wanted more. I hope her second book covers Constantine. I want to learn more about him. I recommend this book who like star-crossed lovers who end in a happily ever after.

Thanks for the lovely review, BookAddict!

Theme song to Barney? That always gets me good and mad.

Where da muffin top at?

Right in the kitchen beside a big tall glass of milk. That's the ONLY place dat muffin top at. Why, who've you been talking to? What do you know? It's a lie! THEY'RE ALL LIES!!!!

How many goats, stacked atop one another like Yertle’s Turtles, would it take to reach the moon?

Describe yourself using obscure Latin words.

Ego dork

Why does evil exist?

Because good does!

What the chiz are you thinking right now?

I'm thinking about this meme. I TOLD you I had a one track mind. Tricksy bastage! My Preciousssssss...

Maybe The Best Review Ever!

At least in my opinion ;)

I'm going to paste bits of it here, but please go to Scorching Book Reviews and read the entire five star review and visit her wonderfully interesting blog.

When Cassidy contacted me to review this book, I was delighted to accept. After reading Sanctuary, I knew I liked her style of writing and had already added this book to my wish list. This book, however, is nothing like Sanctuary. This book is a gorgeous romance filled with angst, intrigue and heat. I was hooked from the first mention of this feudal world and I read it in one sitting. At 154 pages, it is more of a novella, but the world building and character development doesn’t suffer one iota for the reduced length. The world Ms Hunter creates seems to be a harsh one, as the people in it need “protection” from other powerful men or woman. When protection is given, this equates to slavery, with the petitioner belonging to the petitioned. The women expected to pay for this with sex, and I respected Kai for the fact that he didn’t force himself on his charges.  When Sarah starts to threaten his reputed control, he hates himself for his actions with her.  I loved that he didn’t automatically blame her, even if he did refer to her as a “Witch” that had cast a spell over him. Yes, in case you haven’t noticed, I have found another book boyfriend :D

The sex scenes between the two characters are spectacular. There is only M/F sex featured, but it does border mildly on the kinky with a mild bit of anal play and some control/Domination. With every sex scene, you can see Kai and Sarah falling for each other a little more. The author does a fabulous job of creating scenes that suck you in emotionally, and it just makes them more erotic. In a way it was heart-breaking, as at no point did I believe that Sarah wouldn’t chose Con over Kai therefore, each time they had sex, it took them one step closer to complete heart-break.

As this is a novella, and not a short story, there are additional characters and, as per usual, I would like to see them all with stories (pretty please with a cherry on top :D) I can’t go into the details without dropping massive spoilers, but I will challenge you not to want the same. Kai and Sarah are the only fully fleshed out characters, but the others are well written enough I cared enough to want to read more. Look out for Jimbo the prisoner and Amelia the Sheriff...these are two that hooked me most!
A fabulous sci-fi/fantasy romance with engaging, tortured characters that I willed to find happiness, even if I couldn’t figure out exactly how that could happen! The story wasn’t predictable, the sex was incredibly erotic and the plot was fast paced and interesting...It’s one I’ll keep and read over and over again! This story had everything I could have asked for and more and I’ll go out of my way to buy anymore books that the author wants to write in this interesting world.

She has written much more about Beyond the Shadows, so click here to be taken to the full review.

Thank you, Nix!

After defeating the bears in Sanctuary, Kimberlyn, Logan, Andrew, and Elijah discover new passions and have a few peaceful months exploring their deep love and hot passions.

The peace ends when Kimberlyn stumbles upon a vampire who begs Logan for asylum, and Logan has no choice but to grant it. The vampire has a hidden agenda, and once he has Kimberlyn addicted to him, the wolves must keep him alive at any cost. If he dies, Kimberlyn dies.

With the vampires comes the wolves’ fifth -- and a whole new set of problems when Kimberlyn refuses to share her men, can’t get enough of the vampire, and finds new desires with this unusual addition to the pack.

With so many bodies in the bed, how can a girl not get flustered? If I had to give this story a heat level, it would be "scorching" because you cannot help but fan yourself while reading this tasty treat.

One thing that did not change was Elijah who I thoroughly enjoyed in the previous story Sanctuary, and he did not disappoint in this one. His spitfire personality really keeps everyone on their toes, which with so many characters is not an easy feat. This fiery personality ensured his place as one of my favorite characters.

Two characters that did shock me were Andrew and Logan. They seemed like different characters. Logan is no longer the strong domineering alpha who seemed like a borderline bully. Instead, he became an understanding partner who loved and respected his partners. In the first story Andrew seemed to be as much as a leader as Logan, just not the same style. In this story he seemed too submissive and sometimes got lost amongst the stronger characters. These changes were not necessary bad changes, but they left me feeling a bit puzzled because the changes were so drastic.

Asylum also introduced two new main characters to the storyline: Malik and Kali. Malik is a strong character and purposefully vague. From beginning to end, you do not know if he is one of the good people or the bad. I'm still not sure how I feel about him and will have to continue reading the series to really say if I like him. Kali, on the other hand, I quickly fell in love with. Elijah’s wit entertained me and Kali’s just added even more excitement to the mix. In addition, her unique abilities as a Methuskein added an extra paranormal element, which I appreciated.

The sequel to Sanctuary may have some of the same characters, but took on a life of its own. Not only were some of the characters a bit disconnected from the storyline from Sanctuary, but so was some of the overall feel of the story. I got the feeling I was missing a story in between the two because so much changed. It made me want to go back and reread the first story, just to make sure I wasn't forgetting things. It felt as if the author recognized the mistakes she originally made and corrected them in this story, but it left me a bit disconnected because of it.

The writing style of this story read very smoothly. With a story involving so many characters, I was worried I would get confused as a read. Instead, I was able to easy tell each character different personalities and keep up with the actions including in the bedroom. This is something I really commend the author on. She even incorporated small details like different nicknames from each of the main characters to make you understand which was speaking.

Still, the story was able to stand on its own and even added a little more than the first story, and for that, it was an enjoyable read.

Four Stars for Beyond the Shadows!

The first review is in for Beyond the Shadows. It comes from Alberta of Manic Readers, and she has given it four stars! I've posted some of the review below. To read the full review, click here.

...This book, minus the futuristic elements and dialog, could be the plot of a novel set in a castle in England in the 1300s. The warring tribes, the woman ready to sacrifice her own life and love to save her brother, the hero who has to take care of his lands and people, the primitiveness of cloth-making, sewing and knitting, the need for women to be under a male’s protection, everyone’s constant fear of betrayal, all smack of a historic novel, with even some elements of steam punk...

Excerpt: For Adults Only

He moved down her body, slithering like a muscular, beautiful snake. Using his elbows to support his weight, he stretched over her and lightly skimmed her lips with his.
“You taste of sunshine and mint,” she whispered and ran out the tip of her tongue to touch his.
He growled. “My cock throbs to be inside you.”
She laughed against his lips. “How romantic you are.”
“I never pretended to be, sweetheart. I want to fuck you. My mind doesn’t think of mint and sunshine.” He rubbed his hardness against the cradle of her thighs, slippery silkiness that robbed her of speech and breath.
His eyes darkened as he stared at her. “What do you want, Sarah?”
She gasped, her desire becoming a thing alive as he continued to slide against her. Tilting her pelvis, she tried to capture his cock, but he refused to enter.
“I want you.”
He positioned the tip of his erection at her opening, easing it in just enough to stretch her, and she shivered at that taste of things to come. Somehow, when she wasn’t looking, control had shifted. He seemed to be possessed of more of it than she’d ever been.
With a sudden, hard thrust, he was inside her, his hugeness filling her up. She fought for breath as the air caught in her lungs, her nails digging into his back, her fingers clutching in a spasm of shock at his entry.
Arching her neck, gasping, she felt him bite the tender space between her shoulder and neck, then immediately ease the sting with his tongue.
He pulled out, a long, slow slide she felt with every fiber of her being, a sensation that made her too weak to breathe. And before she could recover from the withdrawal, he slammed into her, pushing everything else from her mind. There was only this man, this moment.
He gazed down at her, and she couldn’t, didn’t want to, look away. Lips parted, eyes nearly black with heat, he stared at her as he fucked her. Faster and harder, until she wasn’t sure where he stopped and she began.
“Am I making you feel it?” he said, his voice gravelly and low.

Jianne Carlo interviewed me in May. Here it is. Thanks, Jianne!

From Jianne, on her website: I apologize for the delay in getting this blog up today. We had severe thunder storms yesterday, and our home network fried. Turns out that having a twenty-four hour Wal-Mart two minutes away isn’t as useful as having a nearby Radio Shack. Go figure.
My guest author this week is a personal favorite, Cassidy Hunter. If none of you have read her work before, I urge you to start with Strange Familiar. OMG, I so love that book. Cassidy has that bent kind of mind I love. Strange Familiar is sizzling and funny – a combination you don’t see often. So let’s get down to it – Cassidy tell the readers a little bit about you.

Cassidy: I live in a little town in Southern Ohio, where I spend as much time as possible writing about other worlds. I love reading paranormal and fantasy, and after taking a couple years to explore contemporary and YA writing, I settled on what I love writing the most: erotic paranormal romance

J: Was writing something you always wanted to do or a career you fell into?

C: Writing is something I’ve always done. That and drawing. I was sighed at by many a teacher for jotting or doodling in class! Being published is a dream I don’t ever take for granted. I know how lucky I am.

J: When did you seriously start to write for publication?

In late 2007. It seems like it’s been forever, and I can’t believe it’s only been four years! But that’s just the way things happened. I discovered electronic publishing, submitted to The Wild Rose Press under the pseudonym Jane E. Jones, got accepted, and I’ve been writing for publication since. (Jane's books are here)

J: How did you feel when you sold that very first book?

C: When that first acceptance email came in, I was afraid to read it. But when I did and saw that a publisher wanted to buy my book…I must have jumped up and down for two straight hours.

J: Do you have any other WIP’s you can share? Any release dates you can tell us about?

C: I do have two upcoming releases: Beyond the Shadows, a post apocalyptic/futuristic erotic romance coming to Loose Id on June 7th, and First Night, an erotic fantasy coming soon to Liquid Silver Books. I don’t have a release date for First Night yet. (First Night is now available.)

J: What inspired you to become a writer?

C: I’ve always been a writer; I just never had the confidence to seek publication until a few years ago. I liked nothing better than writing when I was a little kid--except maybe reading. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on. I read the cereal box at breakfast, I read in class, at dinner, before bedtime. I think the only place I didn’t read was in the car, and only because it made me ill.

J: If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?

C: It really depends on what kind of story they’re looking for, but I’d have to go with Asylum. It’s my favorite.

J: Do you have any writing quirks?

C: Well, I have to have the title before I start writing; I think that might be a quirk. And I can’t write if my space is messy. I want everything exactly in its place while I’m writing. Sigh.

J: What do you do when not writing your stories?

C: I attend the university that’s only about twenty minutes from where I live. I’m currently enrolled in the Athletic Training program. I read, of course. I got a Kindle recently and love it! I also hike with friends, go out for pizza, and sometimes teach myself something just for the heck of it. A couple of years ago I taught myself to knit, and wasn’t surprised to find it really relaxing. I give everyone washcloths and cozies.

J: What would people be surprised to know about you?

C: Maybe that I grew up in church. My dad is a Pentecostal preacher. There were revivals, casting out of demons, speaking in tongues, handling snakes, strychnine drinking…the whole bit!

J: If Heaven exists, what would you like God to say when you arrive?

C: I’d like him to say, “I’ve been taking care of your little girl. She’s waiting for you.”

J: If you were to write the number one best selling cookbook, what would be the title?

C: A bazillion different ways to make pizza and eat it for every meal and still be skinny.

J: Which do you prefer:

Denim or Leather on a guy? Denim
Chinese or Italian food? Italian
Front seat or Back seat? Back unless I’m driving, then I like doing that from the front seat ;)
Dark eyes or Light eyes on a guy? Dark. Or sometimes light. But I do prefer dark hair on a guy.
Sleeping bag or Bed to have naughty fun? Sleeping bag
Dinner or Movie for first date? Dinner
Coffee or Tea? Coffee, black and hot
Chiseled jaw line or Chiseled abs? Oh my. Yes, please.
Chocolate or Popcorn? Popcorn for movies and chocolate all the other times.
Wine, Beer, or Soda? Diet Coke

J: I so love the fact that you have to have a title before beginning a story – I do too. Chime in everyone, let’s pepper Cassidy with questions.

Scorching Book Reviews review Asylum

I've received an awesome, amazing, very thorough 4.5 star review of Asylum from Scorching Book Reviews.

Below are a couple of snippets from the review, but be sure to click the link to read the entire review and visit this awesome review site.

...I really enjoyed this book. The characters engaged me and the storyline gripped me. It wasn’t always the easiest read, because I didn’t always agree with the characters actions. I found I actually gave a crap about what the characters did to each other, which is new! It was refreshing the way Ms Hunter wrote the dynamics of the ménage. It’s bad enough being part of a two-person relationship, I can’t imagine a five-person one! In this book they fight, they struggle for attention and they use every trick in the book to get their own way. It was refreshing to see how the dynamics of such a large ménage would work, and I loved it.

...The first thought that entered my head when I read the blurb and read some of the ménage combinations, was “how the hell is that going to work”. It does beautifully, without ever being crude. The sexual scenes are written focusing on the emotions and sensations, rather than just the placing of body parts, which makes for some seriously hot chemistry. I enjoyed the majority of the scenes but there were a couple that made me uneasy (I’ll explain why later).

My thanks to Scorching Book Reviews for the review!

Asylum is NOR Top Pick!

 Title: Asylum

In this story, we continue on the quest of the wolf pack that Kimberlyn is a part of and she along with Logan, Andrew and Elijah must try to complete their pack by finding their fifth mate.

When Kimberlyn returns home to her own house for a short time, she is immediately greeted by a scent that someone or something is in her basement. Trying to get a hold of Logan and the men to help her search her house, she stumbles upon Malik, a vampire. Her wolf pack arrives to aid her and when they all meet Malik they know that he’s bad news for them. There’s something not right about the entire situation and they have to get to the bottom of things before anyone loses their life.

As the story unfolds, there seems to be an extremely strong attraction happening between Kimberlyn and Malik. But she knows that if he were to bite her, after three attacks she’d become his servant for the rest of her and Malik’s lives. Even though she has been fighting her attraction and the deep down urge to be with him, he finally does bite her and from then on hell seems to break loose for the entire pack.

The pack tries figuring out why Malik would even want to be associating with wolves and they know that he must have an ulterior motive in mind. When Malik brings Kali, a friend of his, into the sanctuary for healing the entire situation starts to make sense to them.

Who does the wolf pack find out to be their missing fifth member? Why did Malik get involved with the pack to begin with? Can the wolves and vampires really cohabitate together?

I found this book to be just as intriguing as the first book in the series, Sanctuary. Ms. Hunter has a very vivid imagination. She knows how to create characters that you fall in love with and she knows how to write a storyline that immediately pulls you in. It’s extremely hard not to develop feelings for her characters and you just can’t help but feel that they are real people you may encounter in your own life. I love the concept of the wolf pack being shifters and living like wolves, but having more humanistic qualities about them. When Ms. Hunter introduced us to Malik and his vampire world, I wasn’t quite certain how the storyline was going to turn out, but she didn’t disappoint me in the end. If you’re looking for a paranormal story that is uniquely different and very intriguing than you’ve found the perfect series to read!

From Manic Readers

Manic Readers reviewer AlexJouJou posted a new 4 star review of Asylum! Click here for the full review.

There’s a new vampire on the scene. Malik (Arabic for Angel) manages to secure Logan’s assistance by asking for asylum with the wolves. However he has to make Kimberlyn so dependent on him that she will die without him in order to accomplish all that he wants and he has an agenda that won’t die. Kimberlyn, who is the healer, cannot overcome what Malik has done to her and she wonders whose side is Malik on and is he their fated fifth?

I really enjoyed reading Sanctuary so I was eager to sink my teeth (pun intended) into Asylum. The introduction of another race to the plot is not only intriguing but provides a real breath of fresh air (although when they find Malik he is neither fresh smelling nor breathing!).

I thought the continuity between the stories made it seem like two parts of a whole and the expansion of the world in Asylum really allows you to get to know the characters and each of their pieces of the puzzle. The intricacy of incorporating what’s happening with the community of were’s as well as the relationship between the main characters is tough to pull off and Ms. Hunter does an admirable job here.

Where this book really shines though is the sex—I cannot tell a lie. I’m a fan of BDSM and paranormal and so this hit just the right “spot” for me. No matter who or how many are getting down and dirty there is no shortage of sizzle! Writing ménage and more can be quite tricky—you can oftentimes forget who is where doing what—but Asylum makes you feel as if you are there with them and boy is it fun!

Thank you, MR and AlexJouJou. If you'd like to go to MR and read the full review, click here.

Cassidy Hunter
Paranormal romance
Available from Loose Id
ISBN: 978-1-60737-955-3
February 2011

After their success of defeating the bears in Sanctuary, Kimberlyn, Logan, Andrew and Elijah have a few peaceful months to enjoy their new found passions, desires and love before danger once again comes calling. The peace ends when Kimberlyn finds a vampire who begs for asylum and Logan has no choice but to allow it. The vampire Malik has his own set of plans and once he has Kimberlyn addicted to him through a bite, the wolves have no choice but to keep him alive, for his death would mean the death of Kimberlyn. Also with the vampire comes the wolves' fifth in their circle of power and a whole other set of problems along the way.

Once again the very talented author Cassidy Hunter takes the reader back to Sanctuary, luring them into the web she spins, leaving them completely enthralled from beginning to end.

The author keeps the fast pace moving with marvelous dialogue, plenty of intense action and a steamy sensuality that makes this story extraordinary. Treachery abounds and with the remarkably vivid and sometimes graphic scenes within the pages of the story the reader will be on the edge of their seats trying to anticipate what's next for Kimberlyn, Logan, Andrew, Elijah and the newest addition to their powerful circle Kali.

One of the many things that make this intricate and spellbinding book so memorable is the brilliant cast of characters. The characters are filled with a high level of sensuality, fire, honor and passion wrapped around a sense of wildness and raw animalistic desire that is intoxicating and appealing.

Readers will feel the powerful love as well as the struggles filled with hope, family, joy and heartbreak the characters must face in order to keep their pack safe and their bond strong.

The insecurities that Kimberlyn feels when their fifth arrives in the form of a woman and she is forced to share the love and passion of her men is portrayed perfectly without making her seem like she is really selfish and whiny.

The sexual desire and bond between the five characters contains of sizzle, smoldering heat, edgy desire and touching emotional pull that is everything a reader could desire in a story. The ending is purely magical!

Ms. Hunter creates a wonderfully dangerous, touching, highly enchanting and unforgettable story that readers adore. You won't be able to put this story down!

Overall rating: 5/5
Sensuality rating: Explicit

Beyond the Shadows has a release date of June 7th. I haven't received the cover yet, but as soon as I do I'll post it. I always love seeing the cover for the first time. So exciting!

Speaking of exciting, Strange Familiar is coming out this summer in print! I'll hold a contest to give away an autographed book as soon as my publisher sends me my copies. The book is also getting a new cover. I've seen tentative ideas for it, and it's going to be perfect. Something more fitting for an erotic romantic comedy. :)

My little town is currently being pummeled by a huge storm so I think I'll get off here and write before the power goes off. Even though my laptop would last for a couple of hours on the battery, I can never seem to write when there is no electricity!

Oh. That's really loud. Uh, think I'll take a serious look at my closet.
